choosing to see

Ethan could have missed it. He could have been too naive, too overwhelmed, too selfish, or too young. Instead, Ethan chose to see.

In 2017, Ethan and his father visited Uganda and their sponsored child, Emmanuel. While there, Ethan saw children walking everywhere barefoot and decided to do something.

He gave Emmanuel his shoes.

As Ethan experienced the Ugandan earth in his bare feet, he asked questions steeped in compassion. “Dad, why didn’t we do more? Why didn’t we bring him more shoes, more clothes, … we could have done so much more.”

There’s always more to be done. More love to give, more lives to touch, and more shoes to offer, if we choose to see. If we don’t turn away, look away, or pretend someone else has the answers.

Ethan saw a need and took action like a small ripple building into a mighty wave.

Ethan’s heart of compassion inspired a story about Amelia, a little bird, who learns to see the needs of others through her new goggles. Check out the free eBook from Compassion International.

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13: 16 (NIV)

  1. Another beautiful story of love and sharing….actually, more than a story. This is real life of a caring family, who is, in a small way, meeting the needs of the needy. What a truly moving “story”…..thanks for sharing.
